I have always liked the character, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), on The Young and the Restless.  We have watched Lily grow from birth to adulthood.  She has, without a doubt, gone through every stage of life with more and more challenges, as a good soap character should.

In particular, I remember being deeply moved watching Lily’s amazing journey as she fought cancer, despite grim predictions.  In addition, I admired Lily’s strength when searching for a way to guarantee she and her husband, Cane (Daniel Goddard), would have children.  Lily Winters became an honest role model for women battling cancer.

For a brief period of time, Lily appeared to become a judgmental shrew.  However, viewers, as well as the entire Winters family, soon learned she was the person who had the most accurate view of family nemesis, Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan).  There were weeks during this story arc in which I hoped the entire population of Genoa City would put Lily in her place. It was a shocking revelation to discover it was Lily who had earned the right to give a collective ‘I told you so’ to her family (and the viewers).

It is surprises like this that have helped me remain an ardent fan of Lily Winters.  I continue to hope she will come out on top in the battle of the beautiful Winters women — Lily vs. Hilary.  That is not to say that I don’t relish the twists and turns we constantly see from Hilary as the story progresses.

When Christel and Mishael are on screen, it’s a pleasure to see these strong, self-assured women sparring and continually one-upping each other.  Although the audience still does not know the outcome(s) of the latest battle(s) between Hilary and Lily (and the Winters family), I look forward to watching each round!

What do you think of the growth of little, sweet Lily into a strong, powerful woman in Genoa City?  Do you see her as the “good guy” or “bad guy” in her current conflicts with Hilary?  How would you like to see Lily’s story advance?

Let’s Talk!!!

  1. I personally ADORE Lily Ashby but apparently TPTB don’t! Otherwise, they would not have saddled her with JFP’s albatross Hillary for three bloody years to PIMP! Lily is Legacy and should be in the same position as Victoria Newman, with Cane and HER Family, along with HER business ventures, ONSCREEN, without babysitting that Winters’ trio! Glad JFP is gone but as long as Pratt is there, I cannot watch the train wreck known as the pimping of Hillary by all Blacks and Cane!

    • I would most definitely like to see Lily getting front burner storylines again–stories that don’t necessarily involve Hilary. Lily is a significant legacy character in her own right and does deserve the respect of that position. Thank you for chiming in!

  2. I am a huge Christel Khalil and Lily fan. She is so rootable and relatable. She works so hard to protect her family and looks fabulous doing it. She absolutely never holds her tongue and is honest to a fault. I feel like I’ve grown up with Lily these last 12 years she has been on the show. I can’t wait to see where her journey takes her.

  3. Lily is the best ! .. Her journey was beautiful to watch. She grew from a girl into this beautiful woman…I admire her for keeping such a big wild guy like Cane in check . True strenght of a woman. I predict she’ll be the next leading lady of YR, which she shouldve already been a long time ago.

    • I would love to see Lily become one of the leading ladies/power women on #YR! I have also enjoyed watching her journey. Thank you for commenting. 🙂

  4. Lily Winters Ashby is a fantastic character. She always looks out for her family and will go to any lengths to protect them especially from the effects of Hurricane Hillary!!! I too like so many other people believe she is a legacy character who deserves her own storyline away from Neil, Devon and Hillary (although I do enjoy the bitchiness between the pair especially since they are real life friends). Lily is very stylish and should have her own fashion line come on writers. Melissa Claire Egan has been on the show for a shorter period of time and gets more airtime and her own fashion label.

For me Christel really shone during the cancer storyline and I loved the emotions
moments between her and Daniel. They are a perfect pairing and their chemistry is off the charts especially during the Lanex scenes. The latest was amazing!!!! They make it look so real you forget they are with other people in real life. Nobody does it like Lane!!!! I want them to have more scenes at home and with their kids too who are adorable by the way.

    • I absolutely adored how Christel handled the entire cancer storyline. She brought out just the right emotions throughout and was a true inspiration. I have enjoyed her performances throughout her years at #YR.
Thank you for sharing your support of Christel!
