It was both a huge treat, and a big surprise, to see Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis and Lucas Horton (Judi Evans and Bryan Datillo) on screen together during an episode of Days of Our Lives last week!  It had been so long since we had seen this couple together, I was convinced their temporary parting was permanent.

Despite the spoilers, I was still taken aback by Lucas’s spontaneous, and completely unexpected, proposal of marriage.  Clearly, Adrienne and Lucas had reunited off-screen, and their enthusiastic reunion following Adrienne’s trip to Paris to visit her son, Sonny (Freddie Smith), was a result of ‘absence making the heart grow fonder’.  Despite all these qualifiers, I was still shocked by the proposal, and even more so by Adrienne’s acceptance.

In honor of this exciting storyline, Star Struck Fan Events, will be holding what promises to be an exciting “engagement party” in Salem, MA during the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2016. (Look for details at starstruckfanevents.com.)

How do you feel about the future for Adrienne and Lucas?  Will they actually make it down the aisle?  Do you think this may be the catalyst that brings Sonny home?  Will Sonny influence the couple’s ultimate marital outcome?

Let’s Talk!!!

  1. I am not completely invested in the Lucas/Adrienne pairing BUT I am completely invested in seeing both Judi Evans and Bryan Datillo more on my screen! Both are talented actors and need to be used more!

I don’t dislike them as a couple but we haven’t seen them in so long, their engagement seemed so out of place. I wish the writers wouldn’t cut scenes that are referenced to in later episodes. We never saw Lucas and Adrienne discuss marriage at Chad and Abby’s wedding, but apparently they did. Had we seen or heard that conversation, it might not have come as a shock to viewers when Lucas got down on one knee.

When watching any show but in particular soaps, I want to want certain couples together, that’s the fun of it! That’s what keeps you coming back. With this couple I don’t think we’ve seen enough growth in their relationship to feel necessarily anything from this decision or care about Sonny’s reaction. He’s a grown man that has divorced parents. If his mother has found happiness with someone else his reaction should only be one thing: support. Especially after the death of his husband he should understand how precious love is.

I will certainly tune in and watch but unless the writers step up their game and make Lucas and Adrienne a couple to root for, I may just write this wedding off as just another day in Salem.

    • I have to, unfortunately, admit that you’re right about the lack of foundation for this couple. Like you, I enjoy investing in a couple that has built their relationship, surpassed hurdles, and finally are able to unite. This build-up is missing for Lucas & Adrienne and I hope their engagement proves to add the drama needed to engage fans. While Sonny is an adult, he has always made it clear that he never expected his parents to ever truly fall for anyone but each other. It should be interesting to see if he regresses emotionally, where his mother is concerned, during this story.
Thank you for chiming in with your views!

  2. I do not like them together. I haven’t liked them together since the beginning. No chemistry, no heat..just no!!! Im not interested in them as a couple at all. The writers finished none of their stories, dropped the ball on so many things…good actors both but bad couple.

    • I can certainly understand your point of view. I do like the actors very much and wish they would get more of a storyline, no matter what the story. Thank you for sharing your opinion!

  3. I think their relationship (prior to being AWOL) was honest and I saw genuine love and respect building. I do think the ‘off screen happenings’ are too frequent, including Lucas and Adrienne. I have rooted for them to find happiness together for quite some time. I also agree with the comment above that just seeing the two of them on screen more makes me happy.

    • I wish we had been able to see some of the more recent developments in Lucas & Adrienne’s relationship as they were attracted but not really going anywhere last time we saw them together on screen. I hope they find happiness and definitely want more air time for both characters/actors!!! Thank you for joining in with a comment. 🙂
