Having watched Felisha Cooper play the manipulative Sasha Thompson on The Bold and the Beautiful from her first day, I love how she seamlessly has taken this character from wicked to warm. Felisha believably demonstrates Sasha’s multi-layered personality every time we see her on our TV screens.
When Sasha arrived on the B&B scene, she brought a virtual trunk full of secrets and lies to use against the Avant family — in particular her father, Julius Avant (Obba Babatundé). Sasha wanted all that her sisters had and she felt had been denied to her, including Nicole Avant’s (Reign Edwards) boyfriend.
It was evident from the start that Sasha was a three dimensional character who felt deprived and denied the love and support of her father. However, when her identity was revealed, there was still an edge to Sasha as demonstrated when she initially attempted to fake a pregnancy to keep Nicole’s boyfriend from returning to his true love.
However, from the moment Sasha admitted faking the pregnancy, within days of the ill-fated idea’s conception, we have witnessed a gradual turn in Sasha’s hard edge. As the truth has completely unfolded, viewers now see the more likable side of Sasha, formally buried under the painful secrets and deprivation of parental love.
Sasha’s slowly developing romance with Thomas Forrester (Pierson Fodé) is evolving organically. I am thoroughly enjoying the coming together of this unlikely pair. While there will clearly be a triangle between Sasha, Thomas, and Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey) erupting in the near future, for now it is a pleasure to see Sasha’s softer side–especially since the way Felisha plays Sasha, the hard edge is evidently never far from the surface.
I look forward to seeing more of this storyline. How about all of you? What do you think of the new, improved Sasha and/or her relationship with Thomas?
