DAYTIME EMMYS ARE ALMOST HERE

As May 1, 2016 approaches, and the Emmy submission reels and/or episodes are revealed to the public, I can not imagine being responsible for the daunting task of choosing one from so many fine performances.  However, thanks to social media, I have recently viewed several submissions.  Having recently shared several of my favorite choices in the Lead Actor/Actress and Supporting Actor/Actress categories, I have forged ahead and am going to continue the series, throughout the week, with my predictions for the Younger Actor/Actress and Best Drama series categories.

All the actors in this category sent in excellent reels, but one stood out above all the rest.  Bryan Craig’s performance, as Morgan Corinthos on General Hospital, was truly outstanding.  Morgan’s spiral into the mental health abyss of bipolar disorder was unmatched.  The pain of facing the reality of his condition, most probably inherited from his beloved father, Sonny (Mauice Benard), was riveting.  Bryan’s believable rendition of Morgan’s condition had me feeling his pain and wishing I could find some way to give him comfort and guidance.  I would certainly hope those voting for the Emmy’s give his the statue he deserves.

Honorable Mention: I found Pierson Fodé’s performance on the Bold and the Beautiful, throughout 2015 excellent.  His roller coaster of emotions and confusion regarding his place in his father’s life and in Caroline Spencer’s (Linsey Godfrey) life was tender and extremely moving.  I strongly believe Pierson Fodé has an Emmy in his future, but believe this year he is a very close second.

  1. Going to completely disagree. While the material was really good, I don’t think Craig pulled it off. All I can see when he is on screen is the whiny mama’s boy the Morgan is. Under a different actor, this could have been so compelling.
    I agree about Fode’, though.

    • I can understand how you feel. I must admit that had I utilized all I had watched during 2015 as a whole I might have thought the same. In this case, I was able to view the submission reels and tried to isolate my thoughts based solely on those and not the complete body of work.
I do think Pierson was outstanding as well, and it was a tough call!
