Days of Our Lives viewers are all anxiously and happily awaiting the return of fan favorite, Freddie Smith, aka Sonny Kiriakis. The big news regarding Sonny’s return to Salem is that it will be (or become) a move home, not just a short visit similar to last fall’s brief stay. As Smith revealed publicly, on his “Official Freddie Smith Fanpage” on Facebook, he is back on contract! I’m sure viewers hope it will be for a very long period of time.
After learning this exciting news, I starting pondering all the options that might warrant a complete move home for the young adult member of the Kiriakis clan. We know Sonny’s father, Justin (Wally Kurth) suggested to his Uncle Victor (John Aniston) that his son was now experienced enough, and ready, to take over the running of Titan. However, Titan’s disposition, as with all of the Kiriakis holdings, is in a state of flux — to say the least! Could this impossible state of the family’s financial affairs be the cause for Sonny’s return — I wonder?

What would be so significant to bring back the recent widower, and what may happen to keep him in Salem? Only time will tell, but I can not keep from speculating on a variety of reasons Sonny might return, and then another huge set of reasons why he might choose to stay. I must admit, when Victor Kiriakis was hospitalized for a heart attack, I thought we would see Sonny’s return at that time and was surprised it did not come to pass.
Now that evil Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) has seemingly disappeared, and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) has underhandedly taken the helm of the Kiriakis wealth, what will be the catalyst to get Sonny home?
I have a number of scenarios in mind but no specific knowledge of the true plot to come. Fellow Days fans, what do you think will bring Sonny back to Salem? I would love to read all your ideas so please share them!

Not sure what’s going to happen with Titan now that Deimos is “missing”! Sure be interesting.
Maybe what ever is going to happen for Abby to leave will bring one of her favourite cousins home to see her?
It would be great if Sonny could have a role in Abigail’s story! I really would like to see that happen.
Probably when he finds out that his mother is going to be marrying Will’s father.

I believe Paul will be the reason and also the fact that his job in Paris has be terminated by Deimos.
I hadn’t thought about Deimos messing with Sonny’s overseas job. Sounds like a creative idea. I would love to see Paul brought into the storyline!
He may come back for Victor and Titan, but he will stay for Paul

I’ve heard people suggest that the Will who came back from California was a double, and the real Will was being held by the DiMeras. And it was the duplicate Will, who did all of the bad things, who was killed.

I agree with the termination of his Paris job but think that maybe the reason he’ll be staying is one we have all forgotten…thanks to Chad needing cash flow to keep the Dimera mansion, Sonny is now 100% owner of TBD, which his mother currently has proxy over,
It would be great to have Sonny return to TBD and become a part of the Salem community again at the center of action.
