Days of Our Lives – Lengthy Preemption-Enticing Preview

Spread the love

13933411_1321934544492145_2087565820_nSoap fans know Days of Our Lives will be preempted during the next two weeks due to NBC coverage of the Olympics in Rio.  As someone who live-tweets during DOOL on a daily basis, this is both a blessing and a challenge.

Many Days fans seemed disappointed in the less-than-earth shattering cliffhanger, hoping for something that would whet their appetites and keep them enthused for the return of their daytime drama.

While I understand their feelings, I must admit that I’m very intrigued by the promo, and its revelations of the excitement to come, as the ongoing stories all seem to be heading for great twists and dramatic turns.  The preview for the “new season”, released shortly after the Friday, August 5th episode aired, was a lengthy 1:33 — significantly longer than the typical 15-20 second weekly promos we are accustomed to viewing.

  1. So, I watched it. Wow. You weren’t kidding about revealing everything…and way to spoil that Victor is out in time for the Thrady wedding, too. I can’t imagine what the promo monkeys and producers were thinking with this one.

    • It was quite surprising that so much was revealed. It’s very exciting and I hope the actual shows make this promo pale by comparison.

  2. Days started losing me when they turned Will into Sami 2.0, and I said goodbye when he was murdered.

I have watched a time or two here and there when ever the writing teams changed, but have not seen anything that compels me to return as a regular viewer.

To me it seems that the writer changes have not brought about better writing or better stories. Instead, it seems that the writers are more interested in promoting their own egos rather than making a better show. They just have to undo all the story lines their predecessors started rather than improve them. And characters are coming in and out.

I think many of the problems I see are tied to the lead time between filming and airing, which I thought was supposed to be done away with as one of the requirements in the last renewal contract.

    • You have many good points and I completely understand your feelings. I am still disappointed that the choice to kill Will has not been “corrected” yet. I hope we see some positive changes soon.
Thank you for sharing your opinions!

  3. While I agree it did reveal a lot, I’m surprised by how many questions I still have. Like who really kidnapped Tate, is Xander responsible for Theresa’s departure from Salem? Will Brady EVER get married again and have his bride to be live to tell the tale?

Most of the cast changes and announcements spoil the storyline, at least I feel that way. I can only imagine how much more my heart would break for Chad if I didn’t already know Abby was coming back or how shocked I would have been at seeing Sonny back. The studios keep a tight lid on keeping storyline secrets from spilling out, I think they should do the same with cast changes. Bring back the things that made it “Don’t miss” programming!

    • Excellent questions! I hope their reveals will be as exciting as the promo promises. I truly look forward to seeing all these stories play out on screen.
I agree about the cast changes/additions/returns. I would imagine I would have been far more emotional as well.

Thank you so much for sharing here!

  4. I was very disappoined in the ladt episode before the break. The last time there was a break for the Olympics we had DayAster. I am sick if seeing Hope and Rafe they have taken over the show.
I did like the Chad , Jen and JJ storyline. But other then them i think it was not a good episode.
Then i saw the promo for The New Season of Days. I got excited. Seeing Orphous was a great blast from the past. He was a very meen villian. I hope they write these storyline with twits and turns. That is what makes Days good. Love, Romance, Adventure , Mystery.
I am looking foward to seeing what is ahead for The New Season Of Days

    • I think we have a lot of promise for the future storylines! I hope they’re even more exciting than the promo because it’s VERY enticing!!!

Thank you for continuing to chime in with all your comments. I enjoy hearing from you!
