Having watched the romances on General Hospital for decades, it might be easy to become detached and unemotional with the addition of any new pairing, but I find myself drawn to the fresh, young romance between Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) and Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins – pictured with James Lott, Jr. & Frank Moran).  The writers have slowly guided this couple closer, allowing viewers to get used to them being on one another’s radar as friends first.  This choice allowed the couple to grow on the audience as the relationship developed.

The lovely chemistry between Kiki and Dillon is blossoming naturally and seamlessly.  It’s easy to smile while watching them share scenes.  Both actors have won me over in their individual roles, but now they are winning me over as a couple who can truly build a healthy relationship — as healthy as you can get on a soap opera.  The primary key to the success of #Killon is the gradual pace the writers are allowing this relationship to build.

Lately, I have found General Hospital leading the soap pack in allowing romances to develop to the point where the audience wants them together before it actually happens.  The sexual tension is just right, and then the couple takes a further step closer to solidifying their connection.

This has been the case with this couple, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the periodic breaks from extreme drama to visit this sweet, young love-in-the-making storyline.  GH seems to be working the balance between escalated high-energy stories and peaceful, intimate moments well.  The Kiki/Dillon pairing is a perfect example.
